2009 BACH FESTIVAL HONOREES ANNOUNCED
The Bach Ensemble is pleased to announce results of the Second Annual Bach Festival, held on Saturday November 14, 2009 at First Academy of Music, Bonita Springs. Sixty students from Lee and Collier Counties, ranging in age from seven to seventeen, performed in the event - double last year's participation!
At the conclusion of the Festival, judges convened to select seven "Outstanding Performers", whose auditions best demonstrated mastery of the technical and artistic aspects of the repertoire. The Outstanding Performers will be invited to perform at a concert or event of The Bach Ensemble this season. They will also receive a gift to commemorate their achievement.
Seven other Bach Festival participants were recognized as "Honorable Mentions", for their exceptional promise in performing Baroque compositions.
In addition, four students received "Special Recognition" from the judges for displaying technical proficiency significantly beyond what was expected for their ages.
The Bach Festival was established as part of the educational mission of The Bach Ensemble, to encourage area music students to learn about the Baroque era and to perform compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach.
