2010 Bach Festival

For K-12 students in Lee and Collier Counties

The Bach Ensemble's annual music festival encourages area music students to learn about the Baroque era and to perform compositions byJ.S. Bach, G.F. Handel or another Baroque-era composer. The 2010 Bach Festival will be hosted once again by First Academy of Music, located at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. The deadline for entry is Friday, October 22, 2010. Minuetto

Each participating student will learn and memorize one composition by J.S. Bach or another Baroque-era coposer, to be played before a judge on the day of the Bach Festival. Each student will receive a rating sheet with comments on his/her performance, along with a certificate of participation.

At the conclusion of the Festival, judges will select a few Outstanding Performers from among the participating students. Each Outstanding Performer will receive a prize and be invited to perform at the Bach Festival Recital concert on January 23, 2011. All participants are urged to attend this concert to support the outstanding students and to hear several Baroque numbers by the entire Bach Ensemble.

Members of The Bach Ensemble will staff the event. Participating music teachers are not required to volunteer their time.

A registration fee of $20 ($30 for family with 2 or more participants) will be required to cover the expenses of the event. "Scholarships" may be available upon request, to cover the fee for students with financial need.
